Brief Biography from Lucy

Lucy Ray grew up in Dacula, Georgia on a commercial beef cattle farm, where her family always had horses. Lucy grew up riding for pleasure and competing in a varied array of disciplines. She has a bachelor’s degree in Animal Science from Berry College and a master’s degree in Animal Science from the University of Georgia. She currently operates a small farm in Bostwick, where she breeds and raises Morgan horses and a small herd of commercial beef cattle.

Current Position and Future Goals:

Lucy is currently the Agriculture and Natural Resources Agent and County Extension Coordinator at the UGA Extension office in Morgan County. She has worked in Extension since 2008, and has conducted a wide variety of programming concerning livestock and pasture management. Lucy has been a member of the UGA Forage Team since 2014. The Forage Team is a team of Extension agents that assist the State Forage Specialist in forage programming across the state. Lucy’s role on the forage team has focused on pasture renovation and equine forages. She has presented at several. Lucy enjoys helping horse owners learn to manage their pastures and providing pasture management information for livestock producers. She looks forward to continuing to provide programming to Morgan County and the rest of the state in the future!
